Facelift is one of the most popular surgical procedures today. However, there are several procedures where a person’s face can be improved aside from this now popular cosmetic treatment. Lipofilling and liposculpture are a type of facelift using own tissue of the patient instead of just removing excess facial skin.
Lipofilling, which is a variant of a facelift using own tissue, is also referred to as fat transfer. This surgical procedure is often performed in combination with other surgical treatments but can be done on its own as well.
In a regular facelift, the facial muscles and fat are removed and then the excess skin is cut off. With lipofilling, the patient’s own fat tissues are used to fill in areas of the face to improve its volume. This facelift using own tissue procedure involves the removal of fat from another part of the body, normally from the abdomen and thighs, and then injected into the face.
This new facelift procedure can improve the overall appearance of the face by minimizing the wrinkles and creases present. Lipofilling also plumps up the face giving it a more youthful appearance.
Liposculpture, on the other hand, is a new facelift surgical procedure that is an advanced form of liposuction. This procedure involves the use of anesthetic and blood staunching solution that is injected into the body.
This solution helps swell up the fat making the fat cells weak. The process basically allow for easier and more convenient removal of fat. Although the terms liposuction and liposculpture are often used synonymously, liposculpture is a more precise method targeting specific areas in the body. Since the fat cells in liposculpture are weakened superficial and deep fat are removed making it a more efficient way to remove the fat. As the fats are removed, a certain amount of skin tightening happens as well but of course such treatment can never beat the conventional face lifting method, although it would be a viable alternative for those looking for more options to lift sagging facial skin.
