A new facelift without surgery is having more and more success among those who want to reduce wrinkles and signs of aging. It’s called microneedling or Collagen Induction Therapy.

What is micro needling?
The basic idea is represented by wound . When we hurt, when we start to bleed, a series of processes that involve enzymes and proteins are set in motion. All of them aim to repair the skin: sterilization, scarring and recovery, even slow, of the injured tissue. This is what needling new facelift technique does, it creates micro-lesions on the skin (and also on the scalp if we use microneedling for the hair), near wrinkles, scars or stretch marks that activate the process of production of collagen (collagen induction therapy) and andelastin and “repair”, in addition to the wound, the nearest areas.

How does micro needling create these wounds?
Through a tool, a roller, a kind of cylinder  that is filled  with microneedles that penetrate the skin wounding. The device is traded under different names, the most famous is the Dermaroller, but there are also the Skinroller and many others. All are suitable to reduce acne scars, stretch marks, cellulite orange peel skin, but also for alopecia, for facial wrinkles and generally to improve the signs of aging, it’s a kind of new facelift.

There are two types of Dermaroller: one for home use, other for professional , used by medical personnel. Only the professional one guarantees the production of elastin and the induction of collagen because the needles go deeper . In this case we will need an anesthetic gel before to start with treatment.

Depending on the type of treatment we choose, these are different needles lengths:
0.25mm – to improve skin health (home care roller)
0.5mm – reduce wrinkles, anti ageing treatments, light acne scars, chickenpox scars, treatment for alopecia (home care roller)
1.0mm, 1.5mm – deep stretch marks, reduce cellulite 1,5 mm also is the maximum needle lenght that can be used for the face (home care roller)
2.0mm, 2.5mm, 3.0mm – for deep scars and wrinkles and skin rejuvenation (professional roller)

A professional microneedling treatment lasts about 15-20 minutes , at the end patient feels a slight burning sensation accompanied by reddening of the skin, within a few days gone. Treatments can be performed 6-7 weeks apart one to another.
